Italian metal titans LACUNA COIL celebrated this year's Valentine's Day by releasing their long-awaited new album "Sleepless Empire", but shortly before that they also managed to release the first video preview for it, the single "I Wish You Were Dead". LACUNA COIL will bring you this new album in a brand new and, as always, very unique and colorful show at the beginning of June at the Lochotín Amphitheatre in Pilsen, at the 14th edition of METALFEST OPEN AIR! LACUNA COIL will be one of the highlights of the first day of the festival, i.e. on Friday 6. 6. in the early evening!
The song “I Wish You Were Dead” is about the emotional turmoil and struggle that comes with toxic relationships. The video for the song takes the song’s heavy theme and transforms it into a romantic gothic tale. The clip was shot by Martina L McLean in a church in Capranica, a small town north of Rome. For the first time in the band’s history, LACUNA COIL also performs elaborate choreography.
The band on the new single and album release: “We all have this person we wish never existed, right? We have all felt the need to erase the same person from our thoughts, someone who hurt us that’s still in our mind. We wanted to write heavier lyrics on a happier musical canvas. Also, we are a little tired of being politically correct at all costs. “Sleepless Empire captures, through our eyes, the chaos of a generation trapped in a digital world that never stops, where social media consumes identity, and every day pushes us one step closer to becoming soulless zombies. We find ourselves in between, having witnessed a full analogic world and the modern one, confronting the evolution and searching for a true meaning to it al. Throughout every song, the journey is an undercurrent of rebellion, a desperate cry to reclaim ourselves in an era that seems to have lost its sense of time and reality.”
